Putin wants Russian goods be base of consumption
MOSCOW, Jun 29 (PRIME) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin urged Russians on Thursday to make local, rather than foreign goods and services the base of consumption.
"By using the best solutions, the proposals set forth by our citizens and business, and other unions, we need to set high standards of social support, of city and town improvement, form a supply-side economy,” the president said.
“In other words, an economy living by producing own modern goods, services and technologies, rather than consuming the foreign ones, those made abroad."
He said that aggressive advertisement and subsidies by the states-importers often helped foreign goods and services to oust Russian products from the market. Putin said that "our foreign colleagues have learned very well how to bypass all restrictions of the World Trade Organization (WTO)."
